Healthy Body & Mind

Yoga for the body and meditation for the mind – Miranda’s routine encompasses the balance of two vital ingredients for winter health. Practicing at least once a day can really impact on your overall wellbeing, so take Miranda’s advice and enjoy a daily dose of wellness.

Miranda Kerr Yoga

YOGA

A devoted yogi since the age of 17, for Miranda, yoga is a key element to keeping a healthy, balanced body and mind. Practicing at least once a day, every day, whether that’s early in the morning before breakfast, or after a long day, Miranda says yoga makes her feel really grounded, calm and centered.

“It’s really invigorating.”

She recommends a combination of Kundalini and Hatha yoga. While Kundalini puts emphasis on breathing and meditation for the mind, Hatha encompasses the more physical movements like downward dog, to make up what you would typically recognize as yoga and is great for the body!

MEDITATION

For ultimate mindfulness and calm, Miranda swears by meditation and believes in taking time just for yourself. Whether it’s shopping, decorating or cooking it’s important to spend time focusing on what makes you happy. It also feels like you’re able to give more back to your loved ones this season.

When there’s so much going on in life, Miranda Keeps it simple by meditating in nature or watching the sunrise in the morning – it’s her favorite way to do it.

Balanced Eating

Wellness starts in the kitchen and during winter months we’re all guilty of letting our healthy eating habits slip in favor of comfort foods. Miranda believes in balanced eating through an 80% healthy, 20% treats (80:20) approach, plus some form of exercise every day. So, to stay on track this season, follow her top tips.

Having been a supermodel for over 20 years, it might come as no surprise that Miranda keeps her kitchen and dietary habits as wholesome and balanced as possible – following her 80:20 ratio during most of the year. Even during Christmas, when temptations reveal themselves (chocolates, sweet treats and nibbles) Miranda tries to stick to a 70% healthy and 30% indulgent (70:30) for flexible eating.

“I’m a little more flexible during the holiday.”

Disciplined 70% of Christmas Miranda may be, she can’t resist some of her seasonal favorites like fresh baked cookies, pumpkin pies and hot apple cider – which she makes herself in a healthy way.

“I make recipes that are as nutritious as they are delicious”

Miranda’s trick is to make healthy treats at home so she knows exactly what’s going in each dish (that means no refined sugars and hidden additives). She’s sharing two of her healthy seasonal recipes for you to try at home, so give them a go and share with family and friends this Christmas.

Tea & Relaxation

Black and green teas have many health benefits, so your winter wellness morning routine should include a blend of your choice brewed in a beautiful Miranda mug.

We recommend green tea, which kick starts your metabolism for the day ahead and has antioxidants to promote cognitive performance. Mid-afternoon, enjoy the relaxing properties of Chamomile (one of Miranda’s favorites) to help you feel calm and get a good night’s sleep. The antibacterial effects can help to prevent illness and infection – a great way to beat colds this winter!

Take time to relax and enjoy the benefits of tea.

Taking time out to relax is a priority for Miranda, so it’s no wonder she loves drinking tea and loves all the healthy blends too!

“Earl Grey, Rooibos, Chamomile, Green tea, I have at least one every day.”

The ritual of drinking tea reminds her of time spent with her grandmother as a child when she grew up drinking tea out of her Royal Albert teacups which were her most prized possessions. It’s why she loves spending time drinking from her own Royal Albert Mugs.

How does Miranda take her tea? The usual way, though occasionally using two tea bags instead of one, and leaving it to brew for two minutes to release the flavors. For extra sweetness, she loves to add a teaspoon of Manuka honey to her favorite blends, including herbal and Earl Grey.

“It’s antibacterial and has so many healing benefits”

Instead of regular milk containing sugars from lactose, Miranda adds a dash of goats milk. It’s packed with health benefits like vitamin A, calcium, lowers cholesterol and is a great source of calcium – all make for a very healthy cup of tea.
